Mr. Burns is a Strategic Consultant for Compact Container Systems and primarily focuses on developing and testing containers for the company. Before joining CCS, Mr. Burns served 10 years as a Royal Navy Engineer, working extensively on surface ships and submarine services. Mr. Burns also worked 9 years with Sea-Land, specializing in repairs and inspection at the Port of Felixstowe and subsequently as an assistant manager in the repair department at the Port of Felixstowe. Mr. Burns has extensive industry experience, having worked as a technical manager for OT Africa Line for 8 years, where he was responsible for setting up container and flat fleet depots throughout ports in Europe and Western Africa. Mr. Burns also worked for 19 years with Amficon Leasing as a Technical Director, where he was responsible for running worldwide depot infrastructure, customer relations, and participating in the design of flat rack containers. Mr. Burns is an expert in container flooring and composites and helped write the IICL INSPECTION AND REPAIR MANUALS for flat racks and open-top containers. Over the last several years, Mr. Burns has become a consultant in the shipping industry, working closely with container manufacturing plants and container testing facilities in Europe. Mr. Burns also leads awareness training for Bureau Veritas and CSTI to shipping lines, depots, and various military branches, covering the International Convention for Safe Containers – A Continuous Examination Program (“CSC / ACEP).
