DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE
John O'Brien
Mr. O’Brien is the Director of Maintenance for Compact Container Systems and has been involved with CCS since 2012. Mr. O’Brien assists with the development, design, and manufacture of CCS’ collapsible 40-foot-high cube containers and provides support to the various factories manufacturing CCS’ specialized containers. He has been in the transportation industry for 54 years, specializing in the maintenance, design, material supply, and painting of intermodal containers. His career started with Fruehauf Trailer and expanded into parts sales and support for many facets of the transportation industry, including trucks, trailers, containers, and chassis, amongst other equipment in the industry.
Mr. O’Brien spent 15 years at Crowley Maritime, specializing in container maintenance and developing specifications for container repair and new container manufacturing. He spent much of his time working directly with equipment manufacturing facilities and engineers, opening opportunities in foreign and domestic manufacturing facilities to develop our design to support the Crowley shipping requirements.
Mr. O’Brien also spent 10 years with Champion Coatings as a field technician and sales representative, working on various projects in the railroad and container chassis industries. During this time, he assisted in developing specific coatings to support reduced corrosion and longevity for all sectors. During this time, Mr. O’Brien spent a lot of time in China, educating the container and chassis factories on how to properly mix and apply specialized coatings. Mr. O’Brien worked directly with Charleston Marine Containers, Inc. as a paint supervisor and field troubleshooter to repair coating failures with the Department of Defense.
